The true cod is found in the cold waters of both the North Pacific and North Atlantic and is the world’s second largest whitefish resource after Alaskan pollock. The Alaskan fishery is by far the most important cod fishery in the Pacific and Alaskan fishermen catch between 250,000 and 300,000 tons of cod each year. Most Alaskan true cod is long-line harvested, but all of our true cod is pot-caught, which ensures higher-quality product.
